One-click trading in MT5 and MT4 compared with a trade panel
One Click Trading is MetaTrader's setting that sends orders without the trade dialog. You turn it on in the terminal's options and show a panel on the chart that buys or sells a fixed volume in one click. A trade panel sends with one click too, but sizes the lot from your risk and sends the stops with the order.
Turn on One Click Trading in MetaTrader
- Open Tools › Options (
Ctrl+O) and select the Trade tab. - Tick One Click Trading. The first time, a window with the terms opens: tick I Accept these Terms and Conditions and press OK. From then on there is no confirmation before an order.
- Right-click the chart and choose One Click Trading to show the panel. The One Click Trading icon to the left of the OHLC line at the top of the chart shows or hides it later.
- Set the volume in the panel and press the sell or the buy button; the buttons show the current Bid and Ask. The market order goes out at once.
The steps are the same in MetaTrader 5 and MetaTrader 4.
What MetaTrader's one-click mode does
- The panel sends market orders at the volume you type, in lots. It does not work out a volume from a risk amount and a stop distance.
- The panel has no stop loss or take profit. You add them after the fill, for example by dragging the position's levels on the chart (Show trade levels on the Charts tab of the options).
- The setting changes more than the panel. Dragging a stop or take-profit level changes it at once, a pending order placed from the chart goes straight to the server, and deleting a pending order needs no confirmation.
- In MetaTrader 5 it is available in every execution mode except Request execution, where the normal trade dialog appears.
- The Depth of Market offers one-click trading as well, and in MetaTrader 5 so does the Market Watch.
One-click in Stopline Trade Manager and EZ
In a trade panel the plan is set before the click. The lot comes from the Risk field and the stop distance; the stop loss and take profit come from the lines on the chart or the SL and TP fields of the panel; up to five take-profit levels can close the position in steps. BUY and SELL send exactly that plan, stops included.
By default a confirmation lists the direction, lot, entry, stop loss and take profit, and the risk and reward in money: Enter sends, Esc cancels. To trade one-click:
- tick Don't ask again in the confirmation, or
- turn on One-click trading on the Settings tab (in EZ: the panel settings, opened with the sliders button in the header), or set the input
Inp_Trade_OneClick. The inputInp_Key_OneClickgives the switch a hotkey of your choice.
With one-click on, these stay in place:
- The lot is still worked out from your risk and rounded down to the volume step, exactly as it is with the confirmation.
- The guards you switched on are checked before the order goes: spread limit, daily loss limit, maximum open trades, maximum lots per symbol and the trading session check.
- BUY and SELL are unavailable while a pending order type is selected, so a market order cannot go out while you set up a pending one.
- The keys
BandSbuy and sell at market;Shift+BandShift+Splace stop orders,Shift+UandShift+Jlimit orders. Every hotkey can be changed or turned off. - The minimized toolbar (
M) keeps Buy, Sell, Place, Close all and Lines in one row, for a clear chart.
One-click covers closes as well: while it is on, the Close buttons and Close % act without asking. With one-click off, the Confirm close switch decides whether a close asks first, so you can confirm entries and still close in one press.

MetaTrader's panel suits a fixed volume with stops placed afterwards. If you size every trade from a risk amount, the trade panel does that sum on each click. To exit, both editions have the Close buttons, Close % and breakeven one press away; see breakeven in MT5 and MT4.
